The family of iconic heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman announced his passing on social media, sharing that he died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
Boxing legend George Foreman has died at the age of 76. According to a statement on his official Instagram account, the former heavyweight champion passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his family.

“Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr., who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones,” the family shared in a statement.
The post continued, “A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great-grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.”

Though best known for his legendary boxing career, George Foreman’s journey began with a different dream. Inspired by football star Jim Brown, he initially aspired to play football.
However, after joining the Job Corps, he took up boxing to prove he wasn’t afraid. “Well, 25 fights and 1 year later, I was an Olympic Gold Medalist,” he once shared.

Beyond the ring, George Foreman pursued a spiritual calling. In 1980, he became an ordained minister with The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ and spent years traveling as an evangelist. He detailed his faith journey in his memoir, God In My Corner.
Foreman also found success as a businessman. While he didn’t invent the George Foreman Grill, his endorsement helped transform it into a household staple. The George Foreman brand later expanded into a thriving line of home appliances.

George Foreman, widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond the ring. Known for his devotion to family, he had 10 children—five sons and five daughters—and also adopted two daughters, Isabella Brandie Lilja and Courtney Isaac.
He famously named all of his sons George Edward Foreman, a decision grounded in unity. “I named all my sons George Edward Foreman so they would always have something in common,” he once explained. “I say to them, ‘If one of us goes up, then we all go up together. And if one goes down, we all go down together!'”

Following George Foreman’s passing, fellow boxing legend Mike Tyson honored him on X, writing in part, “Condolences to George Foreman’s family.”

Tragically, Mike Tyson has experienced profound personal loss over the years. In May 2009, the boxing world was shaken by a devastating incident that forever changed his life. In Phoenix, Arizona, Tyson’s 4-year-old daughter, Exodus, died in a heartbreaking accident that no one could have anticipated.
What began as a simple childhood game tragically turned into a devastating accident that shook the Tyson family to its core. Young Exodus was playing innocently when a treadmill cord became entangled around her neck. The horrifying discovery was made by her 7-year-old brother, a moment that would haunt the family forever.
Mike Tyson chose not to seek blame or focus on the details of the tragic accident. Instead, he focused on the heartbreak and pain of the loss, avoiding any attempt to assign fault.

Their mother, Sol Xochitl, acted with swift courage, quickly untangling Exodus from the cord, calling 911, and desperately performing CPR in a frantic attempt to save her daughter’s life.
At that time, Tyson was in Las Vegas, living the life of a sports icon, completely unaware of the tragedy that would soon cast a dark shadow over his world.

Their mother, Sol Xochitl, acted with swift courage, quickly untangling Exodus from the cord, calling 911, and desperately performing CPR in a frantic attempt to save her daughter’s life.
Upon receiving the heartbreaking news, Tyson rushed back to Phoenix, his heart heavy with grief and disbelief. Despite the family’s best efforts and the overwhelming love and prayers from around the world, Exodus could not be saved.
The loss was immeasurable, and the pain beyond words. Tyson’s grief was deeply felt in a 2009 statement released by his family, where the raw emotion of the tragedy was evident.

They expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support from around the world, acknowledging the immense loss of their beloved Exodus. In the midst of their pain, they requested privacy to grieve and heal. The statement read:
“Words can’t express the devastation and grief our family is experiencing. We thank everyone for their love and support during this incredibly difficult time. We ask for privacy as we mourn the loss of our precious daughter, Exodus.”
“We are grateful for the tremendous outpouring of love and prayers from all over the world. There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus.”

In the aftermath of this unimaginable tragedy, Tyson revealed a side of himself that the world had rarely seen. He refrained from seeking blame or focusing on the details of the accident. Instead, he took responsibility for ensuring that his daughter was properly cared for and laid to rest, demonstrating deep strength and devotion in the face of such a profound loss.
